Kayla Blanche Tse, LMFT

Certified Practitioner since January 2020

Kayla is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) and Attachment Trauma-Informed Art Therapist and Clinical Associate at Dr. Kate Truitt & Associates in Southern California. For the past 20 years she has successfully empowered individuals to heal from trauma (including attachment and developmental trauma) and lead more joyful and authentic lives. She is trained and experienced in Interpersonal Neurobiology and Evidence-Based Practices.

Her Integrative practice is based on the belief that your Body and Mind innately guide you towards healing. Even if one’s childhood was less than ideal, we all have a Whole and intact Inner-Self with Secure attachment within us, which may be blocked by interference such as past trauma. With access to a combination of tools and modalities such as: Havening, Mindfulness Self-Compassion, Interpersonal Neurobiology with Attachment theory, DARe (Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning Experiencing), Art Therapy, Brainspotting, and with gentle curiosity, Kayla will work with you to heal and remove these blockages, ultimately allowing your true authentic Self to shine.

Kayla is a Certified Havening Techniques® Practitioner, practicing Havening since 2018. Havening is a safe and gentle psychosensory form of psychotherapy which helps depotentiate traumatic experiences from the amygdala, a region of your brain associated with emotions. This re-processing of trauma removes the intense emotional experience from a traumatic memory. Havening is also a great tool for building emotional regulation, brain resiliency, and creating possibilities. Kayla is passionate about Havening and neurobiology, believing that understanding how the brain is impacted by trauma helps normalize one’s experiences.

Kayla also enjoys working with HSPs (Highly Sensitive Person) and Empaths, 15-20% of the population are HSPs and about 2-3% are Empaths. HSPs process information more deeply and are wired a bit differently, creating increased sensitivity to their surroundings. HSPs may suffer from anxiety and higher stress levels in a world that feels overwhelming, thus benefitting from a therapist who understand HSPs, learning tools for self-care and setting boundaries.

Additionally, Kayla has a background in Medical Art Therapy with training in PNI or Psychoneuroimmunology, the study of how stress impacts our bodies and immune system, obtained from her Post Graduate Art Therapy Credential at Phillips Graduate University. Kayla applies this knowledge to work with individuals with chronic illnesses who may have underlying past trauma.

Kayla obtained her MA in Counseling Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies, CIIIS where she studied Transpersonal Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic/ Object Relations, Gestalt Therapy, Expressive Arts, Sandplay Therapy, and Mindfulness practices.

Kayla’s past experiences include working at: CHOC Children’s Hospital Orange County, Del Amo Behavioral Hospital, Epilepsy Foundation of Greater LA, VA Palo Alto Healthcare System Polytrauma Center, VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, College Hospital, and Chapman University Student Psychological Counseling Services.

Kayla works with Adults in Individual Therapy and Group Therapy.

She is licensed to practice in both California MFT# 45834 and Colorado MFT.0001753.

"Havening was more effective than I was expecting. ...the technique was super effective beyond my comprehension. I understand why it was presented as a possibility and find that it has given me great strength in the sense of sifting through events in life like a gold miner, looking for the moments in my past that my mind has negative connotations with to then break them down to dust.

...Thank you for your time, thank you for everything you've done and the help you've provided and the care given while I was under your guidance. It means a lot to me to see some of what you see. I could maybe see a glimpse now and then, but I can see it a little more now."

"Prior to beginning therapy with Kayla Tse, I struggled with self esteem, depression, and anxiety. Kayla has helped me overcome these challenges that held me back from living my best life possible. While working with Kayla, we uncovered my suppressed childhood trauma and many other past life events that led me to seek professional help. Some techniques she helped me practice include, mindfulness, self-havening, art therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and affirmation training (Creating Possibilities Havening Protocol).

I am grateful for the work we have done together since fall of 2018. Kayla was the mother figure my inner child needed. She is supportive, empathetic, and compassionate. Kayla taught me empowerment, resiliency, and self compassion. I would recommend Kayla Tse to any client looking for a kind hearted therapist that will validate you."

Client Testimonial- Handling Stressful Situations

"I was introduced to Havening a few months ago when I met my wonderful therapist. As a child, I experienced preverbal trauma as well as emotional and verbal abuse. This has always affected my ability to cope with difficult situations and I have struggled with anxiety and depression my whole life. Havening allowed my brain to calm down and be much less reactive so that when stressful events happened, I could think more rationally about what was happening and not slip into a depression afterwards. I cannot believe what a difference it has made in my life. I am not only much less anxious and depressed, but I have a completely new ability to handle stressful situations."

It will calm your mind, your heart, your nerves and your body! ...If you want to do the work to heal yourself with science based treatments, Kayla is committed to seeing your transformation from inside and out, come to positive fruition. DKTA Yelp Review- Traumatic Childhood Event

Dr. Kate Truitt & Associates Yelp Review:
"(5 stars) 11/5/2020
I came across Dr Truitt and Kayla Tse, LMFT on yelp, when I was desperately looking for a therapist during this pandemic. Dr Truitt and her team were the only ones that reached out to me. An unresolved traumatic childhood event which impacted my personal relationship with my family and my boyfriend made me seek help. The paired team worked out perfectly. Kayla is very kind, a good listener, knowledgeable , and really helps uncover my problems at their core. We had been working together for over 2 months and I have to say she saved my mental health and my relationships. She made me realize that the broken little girl inside of me can be healed. Through havening technique, I have overcome my problems and have been able to let go of things in the past. I would highly recommend Kayla Tse, LMFT as a therapist to anyone in need."
